Gas work is not general plumbing. In Western Australia it takes a separate authorisation, and the penalties for unlicensed work exist because the failure mode is a fire or a poisoning rather than a puddle. Reflex holds both tickets, so a job that turns out to be half plumbing and half gas does not become two trades and two waits.
We install, repair and certify domestic gas across the City of Canning and the suburbs around it — cooktops and ovens, bayonet points for heaters, instantaneous and storage gas hot water, and the leak work that tends to arrive urgently.
What we handle
- Gas leak detection and repair, including the smell-of-gas call-outs
- Cooktop, oven and freestanding cooker connections
- Bayonet points for gas heaters, indoors and alfresco
- Gas hot water — continuous flow and storage, install and repair
- New gas runs, meter to appliance, and pipe upsizing for added appliances
- Appliance isolation and safe decommissioning
- Gas compliance certificates for sale, lease or insurance
Worth knowing
If you can smell gas
Turn the gas off at the meter, open the doors and windows, leave the ignition switches and light switches alone, and call us from outside. Do not wait for a quote to do that first part.
Compliance certificates
Selling, leasing or making an insurance claim usually means someone wants paperwork on the gas installation. We can inspect and certify rather than send you looking for a second trade.
Common questions
Can a plumber do gas work in WA?
Only with a separate gas fitting authorisation. A plumbing licence on its own does not cover gas. Always ask for the gas licence number before anyone touches an appliance — it should be on the vehicle, the quote and the website.
Do I need a licensed gas fitter to connect a new cooktop?
Yes. Connecting an appliance to a gas supply is gas fitting work. Beyond the safety issue, an unlicensed connection can void both the appliance warranty and your home insurance.
How long does a gas cooktop installation take?
A straight swap into an existing gas point is usually under two hours. Adding a new point, upsizing the run from the meter, or working around a benchtop cut-out takes longer, and we will tell you which one you are looking at before starting.
